Examples of these authorities include traffic management, locks and, for example, ports. Don't have this code? Then you are not allowed to use this system on inland waterways. It is therefore essential that you register the maritime radio system and receive an ATIS code before you decide to use this system.

The rules regarding the system

If you want to use this system, it is important that you follow a number of rules. The systems have been developed to ensure safety on the waters. The systems are therefore only intended for messages related to the overall safety of ships on the water and not for other messages. To use a marine radio, it is mandatory that you obtain a certificate. There are various operating certificates you can obtain. One starts with the basic certificate. The basic certificate gives you permission to use the device in 'inland shipping mode'. In addition, there are the Marcom-B, Marcom-A and SRC certificates.
