StopGull – bird deterrents for boats, yachts and marinas
StopGull designs and manufactures bird deterrent systems for boats, yachts, sailing vessels and marina installations.
The products are designed to discourage gulls, cormorants and other coastal birds from landing and perching on vessels and marine structures.
Many StopGull products work through wind and movement, without using electric shocks, chemicals or disturbing sounds.
StopGull product range
The range includes:
- StopGull Air
- StopGull Air XL
- StopGull Keeper
- StopGull Falcon
- StopGull S27
- StopGull Topmast
- StopGull Spreaders
- StopGull Bimini Sailboat

- Systems for pontoons and marinas
StopGull Air
StopGull Air is designed to help prevent gulls and coastal birds from landing on boats.
Typical installation locations include:
- Motorboats
- Sailing boats
- Hardtops
- Inflatable boats
- Cockpits
- Decks
- Cabin roofs
- Professional vessels
The device operates through wind action.
Flags at the ends of the arms create rotational movement, making the area unsuitable for birds to land on.
The standard StopGull Air has an open diameter of approximately 185 cm.
StopGull Air XL
StopGull Air XL is a larger version for areas requiring greater coverage.
Its open diameter is approximately 234 to 235 cm.
StopGull Air for pontoons and marinas
A dedicated version is also available for pontoons and marina installations.
This system uses a StopGull Air XL combined with a weighted base and stainless-steel support structure.
It is particularly useful in areas heavily occupied by birds during quieter periods.
StopGull Keeper
StopGull Keeper is designed for smaller critical points commonly used by birds as lookout positions.
These can include:
- Radar units
- TV antennas
- Marina lighting
- Marine installations
- Small elevated structures
The system uses moving rods to discourage birds from landing.
StopGull Falcon
StopGull Falcon is intended for mega-yachts and marina installations.
It uses a lightweight bird-shaped deterrent that moves in the wind.
Depending on the version, it can be mounted on a telescopic mast.
StopGull S27
StopGull S27 is a compact rotating bird deterrent for small critical areas.
Typical uses include:
- Navigation lights
- Marina lights
- Port signals
- Small mast fittings
StopGull Topmast
StopGull Topmast is designed to stop gulls, cormorants and coastal birds from perching on the top of a mast.
This can help reduce fouling and protect masthead equipment.
StopGull Spreaders
StopGull Spreaders are designed for sailing-boat spreaders.
These are common perching locations for gulls and other birds.
The system makes the spreaders less attractive as resting points.
StopGull Bimini Sailboat
StopGull Bimini Sailboat is designed for folded bimini tops on sailing boats.
It is especially useful where a backstay or other rigging prevents a conventional StopGull Air from rotating freely.
The system uses approximately 95 cm sections with integrated deterrent elements.
Benefits
Depending on the product, StopGull systems offer:
- No mains electricity required
- No electric shocks
- No chemical deterrents
- No disturbing sounds
- Wind-powered operation
- Marine-resistant construction
- Easy installation
- Easy removal and storage
- Multiple mounting options
Why use bird deterrents on a boat?
Gulls and other coastal birds can cause:
- Bird droppings on decks
- Fouling of covers and biminis
- Fouling of solar panels
- Fouling of radar and antennas
- Damage around masthead equipment
- Fouling of navigation lights
- Extra cleaning
- Surface staining
- Marina nuisance
A suitable deterrent system can help prevent birds from adopting specific parts of a vessel as regular resting places.
