The Furuno GP-170 is a professional GNSS/GPS navigator for the marine market, designed as a reliable position source for radar, AIS, ECDIS, autopilot, VDR and other navigation and communication systems.
The GP-170 is built for stable and accurate positioning. With its advanced GPS technology and external antenna unit, the system delivers strong reception stability, dependable accuracy, and reliable position data output in demanding marine environments. The navigator also supports SBAS, DGNSS and QZSS SLAS, allowing improved positioning accuracy depending on the correction signal used.
One of the key advantages of the GP-170 is its 10 Hz position update rate, allowing position updates every 0.1 seconds. This makes the unit especially suitable for applications where smooth and stable position data is important, such as on faster vessels or in bridge systems where multiple navigation sensors are integrated.
The navigator features a high-quality colour display with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, along with extensive navigation and data presentation options. Through the front USB port, route data, menu settings and user settings can be imported or exported. The system also supports waypoint, route, track and mark storage for everyday professional onboard use.
The included Furuno GPA-017S is a compact GPS antenna for the GP-170. This antenna is specifically designed for GPS reception, features a compact housing, and is well suited for marine installations. For best performance, the antenna should be mounted as high as possible with a clear view of the sky, away from radar and Inmarsat beams, and at a safe distance from VHF/UHF antennas.
For onboard installation, the GP-170 offers excellent flexibility. The unit supports IEC 61162-1, IEC 61162-2 and IEC 61162-450, with multiple serial interfaces, one Ethernet port and a front USB connection. Standard power supply is 12-24 VDC. The display unit is rated IP25, while the antenna unit is rated IP56.
